Why we exist
We started Leeds Ledgers because too many perfectly good small businesses were paying for accountancy they could not follow. Portals nobody logged into, jargon nobody asked for, and a bill that arrived without explanation. Meanwhile the actual work — making sense of a year's worth of messy paperwork — was quietly handed back to the client.
So we took that part back. Our accountants do the sorting. You do the thing you are good at.
Who we're for
Sole traders, tradespeople, shopkeepers, freelancers, and small limited companies around north Leeds — particularly the ones who dread the admin and have been putting it off. If a brown envelope on the mat ruins your morning, you are exactly who we set this practice up for. Nobody here will make you feel behind.
What's different about the shoebox approach
A traditional firm asks you to arrive organised. We ask you to arrive. Bring the box, the bag, the phone full of photographed receipts, the three years you have not looked at. We work through it, ask you a short list of specific questions, and hand back finished accounts with a plain-English summary of what they mean.
We are a genuine independent, unaffiliated practice — no group above us, no call centre behind us. The person who prepares your accounts is the person who answers when you message. That is the whole advantage of being small, and we have no plans to lose it.
